Deadly Sounds Episode 1021 – Ray Stone (Tjungu Festival)

With a great line up of artists and activities, the inaugural Tjungu Festival’s ability to entertain is a sure thing.

“Warren H Williams will be here, as will Shellie Morris singing with the Mutitjulu Ladies Choir. We’ve got a number of groups, Manta and hip hop artist DukeBox and Marcus Corowa,” says Ray Stone, executive general manager of sales marketing and distribution for the Ayers Rock Resort.

“We’ve also got the Indigenous short film festival which is just a series of clips from some of the great Indigenous films that we have, and a cultural market Thursday through Sunday,” he says.

Celebrity chef Mark Olive will host a gourmet bush tucker presentation, model Samantha Harris will lead a fashion parade and AFL legend, Michael O’Loughlin, will be mentoring young local teams and supervising the inaugural Tjungu cup.

“We’re really very excited about it, we want this to be an annual event and help to spread the word on these wonderful cultures that will be represented from across the country,” says Ray.

The Tjungu Festival is being held on the ANZAC Day long weekend, 24-27 April 2014, Ayers Rock Resort. Entry is free as are all daytime events and beautiful Uluru will backdrop the event. Click here for more information.
